La guitarrrrrra española (and Señor Bardem)

I had the luck to see an increíble flamenco show yesterday, and it made me miss living in Spain. It also reignited my love for the Spanish guitar. It’s really just magical, almost as magical as the elusive rolling rrrrrr.

And since we’re talking about magical, let’s give a wee bit o’ love to Javier Bardem, who, along with this song (Entre Olas by Juan Serrano) makes an appearance in the Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. A little-known fact about him: his middle name is Ángel. Like vampo-hunk Angel from BTVS. So very many reasons to love Señor Bardem.

Welcome to the weekend …

At long last, Friday has come! And in the spirit of getting things swinging, get to drinking with this fun website. For all you lucky ducks raging at Avicii tonight, this is what you should definitely not consume beforehand …

Whaaaat, marijuana in a bottle? More importantly, I might expect this recommendation for Wiz or Cudi … But Avicii? Really? That, however, is neither here nor there since I will not be getting my rave on do not condone drug use of any sort. In fact, I will instead be getting my babysitting ON on this lovely evening. Responsibility whaddddup.

Questionable recommendations aside, this site has epic potential for the rapidly approaching holiday season. Flext me if you want in, and I know that’s less of an if and more of a since … soooo … get on that …

Drizzy does it big

Drake’s much-anticipated second album, Take Care, dropped yesterday. I’ve been non-stop listening to and loving the early releases, so I was preeeeetty excited to check the rest of the album out. And, since my schedule is rather, you know, free at the moment, I played it cool and listened to the album once … or twice … maybe more … And you know what!? I liked it! I may even love it, but I’m not that easy so it’ll take a couple more dates. In all honesty though, how could it not be good, what with Weezy dropping in to make it rain three (THREE) whole times!? I know, epic. Collabs are actually all over the place, but Drake manages to hold his own fo sho — especially against bosses like Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj. I’m having trouble picking out a fave of the moment, so I’ll just go ahead and say go out, buy the whole thang and get to loving!

Holy Moly Happy Holiday!

I’ve been listening to this song pretty much nonstop since I found it, and I think it mirrors rather perfectly my general mood for today. It is a holiday, after all, and while I may not yet be employed, I still enjoy a good old day off as much as the next kid. Happy Veterans Day!

And we danced … onesie-style

I’ve been sharing quite a bit of sweet muzak/vids recently, and here is another winner. This time, it’s a Macklemore & Ryan Lewis collab. The song itself is giving me a Lonely Island x LMFAO x Mickey Avalon vibe … with a lil somethin’-somethin’ shmillegal mixed in, too. I’m not going judge, though … whatever it is, it’s working. #Winning#Winning#Winning

In short, this is the dance party of all dance parties (with the exception, perhaps, of this one). And speaking of working, that gold glitter onesie is working its way into my lil onesie-loving heart. It’s a wearable disco ball, and it should be mine. (A short aside: I wore a different onesie out in public each of the two days I celebrated Halloween. Sorry I’m not sorry.)

PS Kim and Humphcakes are calling it quits. Does this mean Reggie gets to come back? Here’s to hoping …

Mash mash mash

It is no small secret that I love a good mash-up. This love affair began with Norwegian Recycling and, today, has come full circle with their latest foray into mash-dom, Paradise. Featuring a lil Brit, a lil Sir Elton, a lil D. Guetta, a lil Urrrrsher … and a lot of laid back smashtastic-ness.

Happy Friday, let the Halloween craziness start now! I’m off to find a costume …

Day in the life

Three days, actually. And not in my life … as fascinating as that would be. Instead, I give you three days in the life of dj/remixer extraordinaire Avicii.

I KNOW. Our lil Swedish friend parties all night … and all day, too? I’m actually still pretty unclear about what he does during the day, but it looks like it involves a little bit of prancing about to blue-sy smooth French magic (I imagine it’s a nice break from house), and a lot of white wine. Rough life. I don’t hate it though … I don’t hate it at all.

In fact, I might be convinced to give up funemployment and join him on tour. Or, I might just spend the rest of the day listening to Les Champs-Élysées by Joe Dassin. I recommend checking it out.

Hello, sunshine

After spending a lazy, rainy day inside, I’m happy to see that the sun is beginning to peak out … just in time to set, but I’ll take what I can get!

Since I’m going outside to play for a bit, I’ll leave those of you who have to remain sitting at desks something to smile about.

I stumbled across these on Design Crush sometime last week. No mess, no hassle. Just don’t forget not to water these little fellas.

PS This is what I’ll be singing along to on my run. Catchy, no?
